I walk by this house all the time, on my way to and from Central Avenue Liquor or Pershing Field. I would never have known about this except for this article, and of all blocks this strikes me as the last place something like this would happen. Unlike, say Hutton or Griffith Streets between Sherman and Central where there are always sketchy looking people hanging around in front of the buildings.

A man in his early 20's was stabbed to death this morning in Jersey City, authorities have confirmed.

Shortly before 4 a.m., Jersey City police received a call of a stabbing in the area of 46-48 Manhattan Ave. between Central and Sherman avenues in the Heights, according to Gene Rubino, spokesman for the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

By the time cops arrived, EMS was already on the scene working on the man who was stabbed.

The man was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center and was later pronounced dead, Rubino said.

Rubino did not release any other information.

According to police radio transmissions, the man was stabbed at least twice in the abdomen.

The transmissions also indicate that a person suspected of committing the stabbing walked into Christ Hospital on Palisade Avenue to receive treatment for injuries.
