Civic JC would like to announce that in conjunction with Jersey City Council President Rolando Lavarro, Jr., we will presenting a budget forum on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 10am at the council chambers in City Hall at 280 Grove Street, Jersey City.

The second Jersey City Budget Forum will present to the public the proposed 2014 municipal budget and describe the process by which it is adopted from both, a local and state perspective. The forum will also include presentations on ?Budgeting for Sustainability? and ?Tax Abatements.?

Our opening speaker will be Marc Pfeiffer, Assistant Director at the Blaustein Local Government Research Center and Principal, PfeifferGov, LLC. Mr. Pfeiffer will present an overview of the local budgeting process and its nexus with the state budget. He will be joined by Jon Whiten, Deputy Director of New Jersey Policy Perspective.

Sustainable JC will present a talk on "Budgeting for Sustainability" with Kevin Lyons, Assistant
Professor of Supply Chain Management & Marketing Sciences at the Rutgers Business School. Professor
Lyons will speak about how municipalities can achieve budget savings and efficiencies through green initiatives.
