Fulop's trip to DC with political consultant fuels speculation
The Jersey Journal By The Jersey Journal November 18, 2013 at 8:57 AM Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop is a hot political commodity and some savvy observers are working overtime trying to read his poker face. The political gossip column in yesterday?s Star-Ledger speculated that Fulop might have tipped his hand last week when he took a trip to Washington, D.C. and was escorted around by Michael Soliman, the former state director for U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., and a current managing director of the political consulting firm Mercury. ?Considering that Fulop, along with Senate President Stephen Sweeney (D-Gloucester), is often mentioned as a potential Democratic candidate for governor, The Auditor sees some statewide politics afoot,? the column states. Soliman declined to comment. But Fulop pooh-poohed talk of a statewide political campaign. On his trip, Fulop met with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Rep. Steve Israel, D-N.Y., who serves as chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and others. http://www.nj.com/jjournal-news/index ... politic.html#incart_river
