A Massachusetts man was injured during a shootout between two vehicles in the Jersey City Heights last night, but he refuses to cooperate with cops investigating the shooting, police reports state.

Shots rang out just before 9 p.m. yesterday at Griffith Street and New York Avenue, reports state.

A witness told police that a man exited a white motor vehicle and began arguing with a group of men in a dark SUV on Griffith Street, according to reports. The man then fired two shots at the group in the SUV, ran back to his vehicle then drove east on Griffith Street and then north on Palisade Avenue, reports state.

At the crime scene, police found one 9mm shell casing and a knife on the ground, reports state.

Police were then notified about a man at Hoboken University Hospital who had been shot in the leg, reports state.

The man, 29, of Massachusetts, was uncooperative with police and did not provide any other information, reports state.

Police believe that a white colored Infinity may have possibly been the second vehicle involved in the shooting, reports state.

Anyone with more information about the shooting is asked to call (201) 547-JAIL.

Shots were fired at the corner of New York Avenue and Griffith Street in the Jersey City Heights tonight, freelance news photographer Joe Shine reports from the scene.

A male gunshot victim made his way to Hoboken University Medical Center, but it wasn't known, Shine said, if he was injured in the Heights shooting.
