Healy, Fulop, Stack to give away free turkeys for Thanksgiving By Ron Zeitlinger/The Jersey Journal Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy, through his foundation, Jersey City Ward E Councilman Steve Fulop and state Sen. Brian Stack, through his civic association, will be distributing turkeys for Thanksgiving, all three announced. The Jerramiah T. Healy Charitable Foundation is providing 1,500 turkeys to Jersey City families through outreach to local churches, non-profits and other organizations. Because of the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, any Jersey City resident who is not already receiving a turkey and who is of exceptional need is asked to contact Judi Reilly in the Mayor's Action Bureau at (201) 547-4597 by Thursday at 4 p.m. to be placed on the list for turkey distribution. On Saturday, Nov. 17, Fulop will be distributing 4,000 free turkeys to Jersey City families. Fulop said that any resident interested in picking up a free large turkey should fill out this form. Fulop is asking that residents limit their requests to one turkey per family. Stack, who is also the Union City mayor, plans to distribute 15,000 free turkeys to residents in his 33rd legislative district, which includes Union City, Weehawken, Hoboken and part of Jersey City. Any resident in the 33rd District that needs a turkey and has not already requested one can call (201) 863-8583.
