Ex-Hudson County Director of Weights and Measures Araujo found guilty of reckless driving
By Anthony J. Machcinski/The Jersey Journal July 24, 2013 at 6:48 PM The former Hudson County director of Weights and Measures, who was charged with driving while intoxicated in a county-issued car last year, was found guilty today of a reckless driving charge in Florham Park Municipal Court, court officials said. Christian Araujo, 38, a former lieutenant in the Hudson County Sheriff's Office, will have his license suspended for 80 days as a result of the incident, officials said. Araujo was found not guilty on the DWI charge. Florham Park police said Araujo was off-duty and "engaged in a sexual activity" when they approached his car in the back of a church parking lot at 3:40 a.m. on July 4, 2012. He was charged with DWI after failing sobriety tests and had a blood-alcohol level of .13, over the legal limit of .08, police said. Araujo, a Secaucus resident who ran for a City Council seat in Jersey City in 2009, resigned from his title of director days after the incident. http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... driving.html#incart_river

As a taxpayer I demand you fire this a**hole immediately! (but make him clean the seats first) Or will the HC old boys club just laugh it off and say he is going to get punished enough by his wife. (what a joke!) Hudson County Sheriff's official 'engaged in sexual activity' in church lot when charged with DWI: cops Published: Friday, July 06, 2012, 6:32 PM Updated: Friday, July 06, 2012, 7:57 PM By Ron Zeitlinger/The Jersey Journal The Hudson County director of Weights and Measures was "engaged in sexual activity" with a woman in a county-issued car in the parking lot of a church when Florham Park police charged him with driving while intoxicated, according to a police report on the early morning July 4 incident obtained today by The Jersey Journal. The report also said that Christian Araujo, of Secaucus, a former lieutenant in the Sheriff's Office, had a .13 blood-alcohol reading when a breath test was administered. The legal limit is .08. The police report said that cops observed the four-door sedan with tinted windows pull into the Calvary Church parking lot on Ridgedale Avenue at 3:40 a.m. and stop in the back corner of the lot. When a cop approached the car, he saw the driver, Araujo, and the passenger, a Florham Park woman, partially clothed and "engaged in sexual activity," the police report said. The woman with Araujo, who is married, was not his wife. On Thursday Araujo told The Jersey Journal he had pulled into the parking lot to input coordinates in a GPS device. Nice coverup attempt by HC a**holes in the first piece.

Is this the dude that tests how much gasoline is in the gasoline?
If so, he was probably testing how much booze is in the booze. On second thought, that's ATF's job. He was just helping.

This occurance shows how the use os city and county cars is abused regularly. at the state level, theya have big stickers on the cars with a phone number to call if the car is not being used formofficial business. use of the car for unofficial business means potential suspensions. in hudson county, they use them for any type of business, and the spokesperson seems to infer that because he was issued a car, he can use it whenever, even in the middle of the night in a county far away. He should imediately be suspened pending investigation.

(What a joke! Check out some of those comments about his past. As I recall you can't use a County car while "off-duty" , if you can are the taxpayers paying for the gas? Also I bet if he hit someone in that County car while he was off-duty the taxpayers would be coughing up the million or two to settle the law suit)
Hudson County director of Weights and Measures Christian Araujo charged with DWI in Florham Park Published: Thursday, July 05, 2012, 3:11 PM Updated: Thursday, July 05, 2012, 4:04 PM By Ron Zeitlinger//The Jersey Journal The Hudson County director of Weights and Measures, driving a county-issued vehicle, was charged with driving while intoxicated in Morris County early Wednesday morning, authorities said. Christian Araujo, 38, of Secaucus, was approached by Florham Park police at 3:40 a.m. when cops saw a car with tinted windows pull into a church parking lot on Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park Police Capt. Robert Treiber said. Araujo failed a field sobriety test and then was taken to headquarters, where he failed a breath test, Treiber said. Police refused to say what Araujo's blood-alcohol level was at the time. Police said Araujo told officers he was driving someone home and Araujo said yesterday that he had been driving because his passenger was "a bit tipsy." Louis Zayas, Araujo's attorney, said he expects his client to be exonerated. "He was not driving at the time he was stopped by police," Zayas said. "He fully cooperated with the police." A spokesman for the Sheriff's Office said that Araujo is assigned a county car as the director of Weights and Measures and added that no disciplinary action would be taken. "He is a civilian administrative employee, not a sworn law enforcement officer, who was off-duty at the time of his arrest," Sheriff's Office spokesman Michael Makarski said in a statement. "He has not been suspended and the Sheriff's Office is currently investigating this matter." Araujo, who is a former Hudson County Sheriff's sergeant, also said that the charge has no bearing on his duties with the Sheriff's Office. The Division of Weights and Measures is an office under the Sheriff's Office. It monitors, among other things, gas stations to ensure that customers are not overcharged at the pump. Araujo was released to family members and he is scheduled to appear in Florham Park Municipal Court at 9 a.m. on July 11.
