Thought the same thing when I first read it, but its actually the opposite. A cop salary in JC is average at 55K and Trenton 43K...

TRENTON -- Nine New Jersey cities, including Jersey City and Bayonne, will share $9.4 million in funding for law enforcement positions as part of a federal program aimed at hiring military veterans.
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced the Community Oriented Policing Services grants yesterday. Overall, more than $111 million is being provided for more than 800 law enforcement positions nationwide. Atlantic City, Jersey City and Trenton will get most of the funding for New Jersey. Trenton gets $3 million to hire 12 officers, while Atlantic City and Jersey City each got $1.8 million to hire 15 new officers. The other six cities getting funds are Bayonne, Bridgeton, Haledon, Hamilton Township, Newfield and Wildwood. All the new positions must be filled by recent military veterans who have served at least 180 days since Sept. 11, 2001.MORE COPS
