2 Jersey City men fend off gunman's robbery attempt after getting out of cab on Rutgers Avenue

Two Jersey City men stepping out of a cab on Rutgers Avenue yesterday were approached by a man asking for ?weed? who then took out a gun and tried to hold them up, reports said.

When the 20-year-old Belmont Avenue man and 29-year-old Rutgers Avenue man exited the taxi at 1:40 a.m., the man said, ?Where?s the weed?? reports said. They ignored him and entered the vestibule of the building, but realized he was following them, reports said.

The man took out a silver and black semiautomatic handgun and told them to hand over their belongings, but they managed to push him out of the building and kick the door shut, reports said.
