A jilted man assaulted his boyfriend and chased after him with a knife after the boyfriend dumped him in the Jersey City Heights on Thursday, according to police.
The two men were lying in bed drinking shots of vodka when one said, "This isn't working out," after the jilted man assaulted him, the victim told police.
The 25-year-old of Elizabeth was arrested after the incident at 11:38 p.m. on Zabriskie Street. He charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses related to a knife, reports said.
Responding officers found the 45-year-old victim on the street wearing a bloody shirt and bleeding from the nose and mouth, reports said. He said his boyfriend become enraged after being dumped and punched him in the face before leaving the bedroom, reports said.
The victim locked the bedroom door but the younger man forced it open and began chasing the victim with a kitchen knife, reports said. The 45-year-old ran from the apartment and onto the street to where police found him near Kennedy Boulevard, reports said.
The 25-year-old locked himself inside the apartment and at first refused to open the door for police but eventually came out and was arrested, reports said.
The victim was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center for treatment, reports said.Assault
