We are 44% there but we need your help to reach our goal.

If we don't meet it then we do not receive any of the funding! FORWARD --> POST --> TWEET

Last month _gaia launched a Kickstarter to raise funds for the Wonder Women Residency, a unique program in its 6th year which I had the priviledge of co-curating this year. The program brought together a dynamic group of 10 women artists to explore our personal and our cultural understanding and experience of media; the different perspectives of journalism online vs. print; the future of news..

For the first time, _gaia is fundraising: to cover the organization and the artists' overhead?AND the big news, to take the residency to Cyprus! We have been invited to host an intensive 2-week residency in Nicosia.

You can learn more about the project on our kickstarter http://kck.st/hP6GK2

Even if you do not have funds to donate, we would be equally grateful if you could post the project to your facebook/twitter or spread the word amongst your friends.

If you are in the NYC area, please join us on Saturday May 7th for the opening of the New News is Old News exhibition at Gallery Aferro in Newark (a press release is attached).

Dear _gaia friends and supporters,
Even today women remain on the fringes of the art world. Gagosian is 84 percent men, which means its artists include only 16 percent women! In September of 2006 Jerry Saltz reported that the MOMA?s permanent collection, its 4th and 5th floor galleries, only included 5 percent women, and although he has not released more current data, I imagine it has not changed.

Six years ago, a program very close to my heart called Wonder Women started. As part of _gaia's mission it was created and is a successful annual residency that was designed to provide a creative and supportive environment for young emerging women artists. The Wonder Women residency, now in its 6th year, has brought together yet again a dynamic group of 10 artists in Jersey City. This year the residency theme has asked the artists to address the changing landscape of news, aptly titled: New News is Old News.

For the first time, _gaia is fundraising: to cover the organization and the artists' overhead?AND the big news, to take the residency to Cyprus! We have been invited to host an intensive 2-week residency in Nicosia.

We have posted the project on Kickstarter! Visit our kickstarter page to learn more about the project and to DONATE! Please consider supporting this innovative group!
