First stop would be Cultural Affairs department in City Hall (located in the basement) to pick up all the applications. You'll have to get it all signed off by multiple city departments including police, fire, health and engineering. If you require street closing, the engineering department might have to pass it to the City Council for a vote. If you plan on serving booze and/or food, the health department will have to get involved. If no street closure is required or no food, they'll just sign off on it on the spot. You'll definitely need to purchase insurance for this event which I can recommend. Health department is in JSQ, engineering on 440 and duncan ave, east district on 7th (between earie and manila) and fire on 8th & marin. Feel free to shoot me an email if you need additional guidance....damian@easyridersjc.com

I am a local musician and am working with some other local musicians on putting together a music festival in downtown JC, possibly for the Spring- similar to the upcoming 4th St. Festival. This is still in the 'drawing board' stages- if anyone can point me in the right direction:

1) Is there a specific JC gov't department that I would need to obtain permits, etc. from? Dept. of Cultural Affairs?

2) Any insurance or safety regulations that I need to figure out with the city?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
