you can also post a couple flyers around where you found him. be sure to withhold a couple of details (ie: white spot on thigh) so you can be confident it's really his owner claiming him.

The main number for Animal Control is 201-547-4888. If you found a dog you can follow the instructions on the message if no live operator is available.
You can also call 201-547-4147 and speak with LHS to see if someone has lost this dog and reported it.

Found a young Male dog in Jersey City yesterday 07/24/10. He may be a Bassett Beagle Mix. He was found around the steep hill Behind Christ Hospital on Hoboken avenue near Jersey Ave around where Jersey City and Hoboken merge. He has no collar, but is clean and house broken. He has a white spot on his back right thigh. If you are missing this dog please contact me. Thanks
