Call for Artists

York Street Project Chalk Fest

contact: Cathy Nichols, 201-547-4326

ChalkFest is a sidewalk chalk art festival featuring the children of The Nurturing Place, York Street Project's child development center for homeless and homeless-transitioned children (aged 4 months - 6 years).

The 5' x 7' mural spaces, which are outlined across the Plaza floor, are sponsored by individuals, businesses, corporations, religious groups, and civic organizations. Approximately 75 children will unleash their creative talents with the help of local artists and volunteers from area businesses.

Music and games will be provided by WKTU. Sister Kristin Funari, Executive Director, and her team of volunteers will be manning the refreshment carts and giving away hot dogs, ice cold beverages, and Italian Ices.

The more than 500 lunchtime patrons expected are encouraged to learn more about The Project and the many ways they can help our families directly or through the workplace.

Admission for the general public is free, but donations are gratefully appreciated. Limited Edition T-Shirts also will be available for purchase. All proceeds will directly support York Street Project's programs to help women and children break the cycle of poverty.

For sponsorship opportunities, to make a donation, or for general information visit . www.yorkstreetproject.org or call 201-451-8225.
