A victim under the influence told police that his friend mugged him for $60

A Jersey City who smelled alcohol and marijuana told police he stopped by a friend?s house for a visit but instead got a beating from his pal who also took $60 from him last night, officials said.

At 12:45 p.m. police responded to a home on Seaview Avenue and met the 25-year-old Belmont Avenue man who had bruising and swelling to his left eye, reports said.

He told police he went to the home of a friend on Gates Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard but when he arrived the friend began punching him in the face, reports said, adding that he also took the money from his back pocket.

The victim ran to a friend?s home on Seaview and called police who arrived to find an ambulance from the Jersey Medical Center treat him, reports said.

An officer asked if he was or had been under the influence of anything, an the victim said ?Yes weed. It makes me feel good,? reports said.

Police told the man to go home and come back the next morning when he was no longer under the influence, reports said.
