This information was put out to encourage those with any comments to come forth.
At the beginning we were dead set on opposing this study.
Blame this on lawyers, administration, etc. Not us the active community members.

Please don't put the blame on the minority communities. Let's not start a negative campaign to blast the wrong people.

As a matter a fact please research what the agreements are with developers and the city you will probably be very upset at what has gone on. As mentioned it is Jersey City residents, meaning everyone.

If you feel all has been done fairly your opinion is just this: an opinion. Others have different views.

The fact is we ALL as JC residents should Want to back up local businesses and local people. It is how a community and a city can flourish.
Just think about how much less traffic and potholes JC would have if more people would work where they live.

Thank you.

The City's Disparity Study is a joke. It's a useless attempt to curry favor with the City's minority communities.

After years of affirmative action programs and minority set asides the City still needs to waste money on a useless study of how local vendors are not used on projects ?

HELLO !!! We live in a capitalistic, competitive world. Those who compete succeed, those who don't seek special privileges from government.

Construction jobs aren't being outsourced overseas. Just because a particular contract goes to a firm based outside of Jersey City doesn't make it evil.

Hello All:
If you look in the Jersey Journal this past week they have been posting a meeting for this Wednesday at 6 at the Bethune Center and THursday (I forgot where)..I wanted to let people know what this is about.
This stems from 2-4 years of going to meetings requesting the City do something about ensuring JC residents work on Tax abated and other projects in JC and adhere to the PLA agreements.
As it stands now, there are very few contractors, vendors, anyone that has really earned their living off any of the projects built here in JC. THis study (according to attorneys) has to be done in order to prove this fact.
We all know, the locals have little involvement here much less have contracts with the city or developers to work.
They want to hear from the public!
Please spread the word as it is important this gets documented. If you know any local contractors that have been complaining of missed opportunities now is the time to speak up. The city is trying to pass this off quietly!
If anyone has any other info please feel free to let us know.
I just thought that it was good to post here....Our neighbhorhood has been plagued with unemployment where New YOrkers and out of towners get the jobs.....

Just my 2 cents!
