JCMC is the closest trauma center so it's possible they were brought there and treated, scanned, or observed in some regard, but were not critical. Its unlikely anyone who had more info would chime in since fear of violating HIPAA etc.

It's sad, I just did a project for a course I'm taking and did a community health needs assessment that was entirely about the need for pedestrian safety...

Well that's good news. Since you're in the know, was anyone admitted after being hit by a car last night? There was an ambulance on scene and two JCPD cars.

In theory, yes. But Grand is a disaster. Traffic backs up east bound in the mornings and westbound in the evenings. People try to turn right into standstill traffic in the evenings, which exacerbates the tie-up and frustrates those trying to turn left from Grand onto Marin. About every other light cycle ends with gridlock for five to ten seconds as a result, leaving pedestrians little time to scurry across Grand because the light for those on Marin is short.

The better answer would be traffic enforcement, but since we know that is never going to happen in a meaningful, consistent way, this is a good start.

A car should be waiting for pedestrians crossing. A no turn on red doesnt really help. What it does is allow a minimum number of cars through each light cycle. This causes cars to be backed up idling gas fumes into the air. Allowing cars to turn on red keeps thing moving.

Terrible. I hope the woman is okay and recovers fully.

Along these lines - a note of thanks to the city, and councilman Solomon, in particular, for the newly installed and much needed No Turn on Red signs at each of the four directions of the Marin and Grand intersection. Pedestrian life expectancy just went up a few years.

I watched the very tragic aftermath of a female pedestrian who was hit by a car tonight around 7pm at Grove and Montgomery. It looked like a car was making a turn onto Grove and hit the woman. If anyone has an update on her condition, please post it. She looked seriously injured. Driving home, I saw several impatient drivers NOT letting pedestrians cross at crosswalks when the pedestrians had the signal. Slow down, people - and let pedestrians cross!
