As others have mentioned, this is a small job well within the realm of DIY unless it involves a lot of cutting or ornate design work (though you would want to use the appropriate thinset, not mastic). I'm a local builder with a full-time tile mechanic and can give you a quick quote or even just some a no charge talk through should you choose to take it on yourself. A backsplash is an incredibly-easy DIY job. Less than 6 square feet and it's nothing more than a bit of mastic and some grout. About as easy as buttering a piece of toast and it can't take more than an hour, tops-

About the only reason I could think of to hire someone for this is if you have fancy tile or edging that needs to be cut with a wet saw, which most people don't have.
