The really don't want plastic bags. They jam the separation equipment. The enforcement has just been spotty.

The sad thing is, much of that recycling is likely headed for a landfill.

I put both glass and paper in clear bags designed for recycling. The city has been taking those bags for years...I mean DECADES. No problem. Today was the first time I learned this is not acceptable.

To my mind, the city has an enforcement issue. I have no issue complying with this directive...it's just that I have not had an issue with paper in recycling bags for DECADES until today.

New to me, and it makes no sense. Why would you put Paper in clear plastic bags? Or any other color plastic?

I've always just put my paper out in a garbage can and have never had an issue with pickup-

I noticed today that Recycling had failed to pick up several bags of paper overnight. I contacted the JCRR with a photo. The response was that paper should be in clear bags.

I have been putting paper out in clear bags for years. Is this new?
