JERSEY CITY -- A 16-year-old was shot in the buttocks early Monday morning, officials said.

The shooting came on the heels of Sunday night gunfire that killed Jimmy Gregory, 19, and left a 10-year-old girl hospitalized.

At about 4 a.m., the Clendenny Avenue teen was shot once near Van Horne Street and Bramhall Avenue. He fled the area with his friends and was brought to Jersey City Medical Center by ambulance about an hour later, city spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill said.

The teen's injury was not considered life threatening. No one was arrested and the shooting remains under investigation.

Police are on the scene of a shooting with a male victim down in a neighborhood in the city at this time.

Gunfire rang out in the 300 block of Woodward Street shortly before 5:17 a.m. sending police to the area where the victim was shot at that location.

EMS transported the victim to Jersey City Medical Center suffering a gunshot wound to the hip.

His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening at this time.

There is a crime scene established and an investigation underway.

The motive for the shooting has not released.
