The way those rules are, seems like their target audience is for commuters.

I had no idea those permits were so expensive. I'm pretty sure that on some Saturday nights there are no spots on Columbus at all...so I feel your pain!

I hope so.. like the other poster said parking there on the weekends is already miserable - I personally think you should need a permit to park there at all times being that they charge you $125 a month for it! For street parking! Absurd!!!

I don't use one of those spots, but you're probably right. Seems like they're already in short supply on weekends, anyway. I think it reflects the general growth in popularity of downtown businesses - a lot of the hotel visitors won't park on the street because our rules can be...confusing.

This, plus the fact that most of the tourists staying in JC hotels do so precisely because they can do without a car. Lots of Europeans stay in the Hyatt Regency by Exchange Place, and they ride the PATH to/from the city.

I dont know if anyone else parks on Columbus Drive with a "monthly reserved parking permit" but I'm starting to worry that when the Marriott finally opens the guests of the hotel are going to take up all those spots on the weekend (when its permitted for any one to park there)... going to be a pain for the residents of Jersey City that park there all week
