PJ Ryan's Squared, a new restaurant/bar held its grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday to celebrate its first week in Journal Square.

"PJ Ryan's is part of the comeback of Journal Square," Mayor Steven Fulop said in a speech commending owner Mike Ryan before cutting the ribbon at the grand opening.

The venue also featured music from Celtic rock band, The Eamonn Ryan Band, as well as having promotional drink specials and sample food passed around following the ribbon cutting.

"Jersey City needs a place for its talented musicians to premiere their talent," said Michael Ryan, co-owner, PJ Ryan's Squared, PJ Ryan's Tavern in downtown Jersey City, and other local businesses.

"People are looking for a place to enjoy some good, live music without having to leave Jersey City. We want to help bring Jersey City back to the forefront of the music scene and bring quality entertainment to our residents," he said in a prepared statement.

PJ Ryan's Squared is located at 4 Path Plaza.

The restaurant-bar is open every day from 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m.
