I live in JSQ and actually ran to the window last night to see what was about to crash into my home.

The scariest and biggest WTF moment for me was the morning of April 27, 2009 and I was out in my back yard in DTJC doing some early Spring gardening. I hear this ROAR of jet engines getting closer and suddenly a 4-engine jet flys DIRECTLY over my house (heading south) with an F-16 fighter jet flying just off each wingtip. Altitude was an estimated 250' and I could practically see the rivets on the wings.

When the plane banked left to head toward NY Harbor I saw the paint scheme and the American flag on the vertical stabilizer and knew it was Air Force One.

Having personally witnessed both of the planes fly into the WTC towers on 9/11 from a block away, you can imagine what was flashing through my head-

More info here if you don't recall the incident:

Also, runway 11/29 at EWR is only about 2/3rds the length of the other two runways and can't handle the largest aircraft, as I recall.

THIS. Currently, Newark is reporting winds of 12 knots from 310, gusting to 21 knots. Peak wind have registered at 26 knots.

With winds that strong, all smaller jets will get routed to 11/29. Even larger jets may get that runway assigned.

I was coming and going on the turnpike around 4:30 and 7:00pm, both times (around the airport) the planes passed right above us before touching down. They were so low maybe 50'-75' feet, felt like they could easely clip the boundary gate with their wheels.

I have seen this many times over the years. It can be anywhere from "Oh cool" to sinus opening "WTF?!" The big jets sometimes look like they're just hanging in middair. I always know what it is but it's always thrilling. The scary thing around DTJC is the helicopter traffic. I saw a guy the other day who banked hard right over Hamilton Park to avoid an oncoming chopper. Most of the time those guys are flying using only their own vision to detect other traffic. They fly low and the other choppers can be easily lost in the background of buildings and the ground.

Did anyone see/hear/feel that low flying plane over DTJC? it banked west towards Newark. Probably around 7.50pm.
