Best two words in Fulop's world are 'super PAC' | Political InsiderBy Humorist Will Rogers had quite a number of quips about politics. For this column he would have said: "Politics has become so expensive that it takes a lot of money even to be defeated." So you can imagine what will be spent to actually win the 2017 New Jersey gubernatorial election – more than enough to Advance to Boardwalk and not even need a Get Out of Jail card. We are just getting a glimpse of the money machines – in particular the super Political Action Committees (PACs) that have become the nuclear cash creating monsters that are "influencing" the outcome of local and statewide elections. In Hudson County, we took notice when Max Pizarro reported Wednesday in politickernj.com that a new North Jersey Super PAC called Coalition for Progress seems to favor the progressive (new) ideas of Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop.
