Looks like they were right on the money with their 3 month prediction. Great job. I also drove on it on Sunday afternoon not a construction vehicle in sight. Just a word of caution there are a few sewer plate mounds that are higher than the speed bumps DT. You can maneuver around them though. I assume they are going to do another layer or two of blacktop maybe that is why no official announcement of the opening.

The replacement of a sewer system between Route 1&9 and Freeman Avenue in Jersey City could take up to three months, according to an official.

Work began Friday night at 8 p.m., a Jersey City Municipal Utility Authority official said. And while the work is underway, Sip Avenue from Route 1&9 to Emerson Avenue will be closed in both directions.

Richard Haytas, a senior engineer for the MUA, said there are two crews working 16 hour days to get the job finished in a timely manner.

Haytas says the MUA is working closely with PSE&G to relocate gas mains to make sure they won't be too close to any mains currently in place because the sewer line needs to be a certain distance away.

Haytas explained the new sewer system is a box culvert, which is designed to alleviate floods during rainstorms. The sewer system currently in use is a circular system.
