These headlines are what tarnishes the reputation of Jersey City. We should take New York City's approach. When I see reports of crime in New York City, specifically the Bronx, I never even see a mention of New York City. It's always "1 person shot in the Bronx." We should do the same - "1 shot in Greenville" or "1 shot in Bergen Lafayette" etc.

You can't compare 1969/1979 stats to 2014 in a city that's supposed to be using all of its top-notch policing resources, manpower, and "best practices" to stop the spread of violent crime.
There's a trend - see below - and it's disturbing. 2011 - 18 homicides 2012 - 13 homicides 2013 - 20 homicides 2014 - 20 homicides and we're only in October Source Source

Sad news but unfortunately nothing new. By comparison there were 33 homicides in 1969 and 49 in 1979.
