First of all Domino's should not be in the equation for pizza.

I believe you have won this argument.

First of all Domino's should not be in the equation for pizza. Second you delivery guy might end up being road pizza if he continues that way. And third either you won't get the pie of you willl have additional ingredients such as asphalt.

You get the idea.

That's my biggest nemesis Amish buggies especially in J.C. But yes "take the lane" especially when making a left turn.

This may not warrant removing the tag off the mattress but riding against traffic onto an intersecting corner will result in a car-biker crash, especially if both parties are turning onto the same corner.

+1000

Except for the jerks on Central & Summit Ave. as well as the idiots who zig-zag in front of trucks and busses.

Took the words right out of my mouth!
Salmoning - illegal (and I love it when they do it without a helmet, wearing headphones...)

Riding the right way down a street without bike lanes in the car lane - legal and appropriate

While salmoning is illegal, dangerous and rude, the behavior you observed is none of those things.

A street that is too narrow for a bike lane is, by definition, too narrow to have space for a bike and cars to ride side by side safely; in such a situation, it is perfectly legal for a cyclist to "take the lane," that is, ride in the regular traffic lane in line with cars. In fact, it's very dangerous to do anything else.

The speed of the biker might be questioned; if he was deliberately going slow that would raise legal and courtesy issues. But it can be hard to tell what somebody's speed capabilities are. And in general, bikes are usually slower than cars. So sometimes drivers just have to wait.

Just like sometimes drivers have to slow down and wait for:

Didn't 'the Bloviator', Alec Baldwin, get arrested for salmoning in Manhattan last year? He was let off with a warning from the judge recently.

Among bike riders the practice of riding the "wrong way" is know as "salmoning" since salmon swim upstream. Its considered bad behavior and probably a person salmoning is selfish and has an overdeveloped sense of entitlement. I don't see it as much in Jersey City but there is a rude cyclist doing it every minute of every day on every block in Manhattan, even on busy one way streets like 6th Ave and Broadway. its mostly food delivery guys and in fact it is in my experience extremely rare to see a Domino's Pizza delivery guy riding the "right" way, ever.

I look forward to your expose of people removing the tags from mattresses or the epidemic of milk crate theft.

You may not think this topic is relavent but yes as more take to the streets on bikes as a mean of transportation people should be made aware that there are rules of the road for bikes.

As for the tags on mattresses, the owner of the mattress can remove the tag should they choose & why should people pay money for a milk crate at Target's to be used for storage when some store owners leave them all over the place.

Of course, highly unlikely that any cop would do anything if it was.

I was told that bikers needed to follow the same rules of the road as cars, signal turns, stop at lights, etc. I was told this when I was much younger.

My neighbor & I were sitting on the steps of her house having a chat when a man on a bike came riding down the middle of the street. He was going at a leisurely pace & there was a line of cars behind him, he obviously didn't care. The street I am on is a narrow one way. Too narrow, in fact, to even have a bike lane.
