Good one LoKo498. I remember I was in my living room when it happened & thought it was the power plant or the tanks right here. My brother & I drove out to Linden & watched the whole thing from 1 & 9, along with hundreds of other people.

I was on the beach in Atlantic City during the 2011 quake. All I felt was the sand move slightly like the waves crashed. About 2 min later, all the casinos were evacuating.

I was in the water at the beach on LBI when the 2011 quake hit. That was a very odd feeling - being in water, standing on loose sand, in an earthquake.

Minor earthquake hit Jersey City area this morning

A 1.3 magnitude earthquake struck just south of Jersey City early this morning and an official at the National Geological Survey said she would not be surprised if an earthquake of such low magnitude went completely unnoticed by residents.

The earthquake described as occurring 1.9 miles west southwest of Jersey City was at 5:08 a.m. and at a depth of about seven miles, said US Geological Survey Geophysicist Susan Hoover this evening.

Hoover said it would not be uncommon for a 1.3 magnitude earthquake to go unnoticed and that no damage to structures would be expected. She said the USGS received no reports from residents of having felt the quake.

Just before 2 p.m. on Aug. 23, 2011, a 5.9 magnitude earthquake centered in Virginia rattled parts of New Jersey and New York, causing buildings to sway in cities and towns across the region.

I remember back in the 90's standing in my kitchen about 6am one morning when the ground 'rolled' as if an extremely heavy piece of equipment lumbered up the street. I went to my front door to see what would cause this kind of movement. Imagine my surprise to see several other neighbors looking out their windows/doors. The even bigger surprise was that there was absolutely nothing to be seen on the street. It was only a short time later that we found out there had been a minor quake. I think it was in the area of the Ramapo Fault, I could be wrong. Just a creepy feeling none the less.

I was driving past Dover AFB in Delaware when that quake in 2011 hit. Saw a transport plane take off and circle the area to check for damage. My motion activated cameras at home picked up my curtains moving. Pretty cool.
