I was visiting Canada around 2005, watching the news there, the broadcaster talked about some corruption in the Midwest in America. Then he said, this is unusual, the most corrupt state in America is New Jersey. True story.

Hmm. I am not sure how to feel about this one. You could argue that states with a really high number of convicted public officials are actually LESS corrupt, as it shows a willingness to NOT put up with the corruption, and prosecute those suspected of fraud and/or graft.

I'm sure there are plenty of "Haunted" spots in NJ. I've heard of a few in JC.

New Jersey is so Bad!!

Sounds like a compliment!

I think bad refers to our nasty & corrupt politics.

There was plenty of room to put "badass", if that's what they mean to say LOL. I have to agree, between politics, 'Jersey Shore', 'Real Housewives', and the toxic aroma of the Meadowlands, it's not meant as a compliment...

Still, better to be "bad" than to be poor, flat, or boring

Exactly! People associate Jersey with stuff like this

I still love you Jersey :)

The perception of New Jersey among people around the world is rapidly changing, according to Google that is.

Maybe all the national news about political scandals in the Garden State is finally starting to rub off on people.

The folks over at Amazing Maps went on Google and typed in "why is [state] so," and then created a map based on the top autocomplete suggestions for each state.

As of a tweet sent out on Jan. 25, "bad" is the word Google wanted to populate the search bar with when you started to type out "why is New Jersey so." After that, the selections were: "hated, "great" and "popular.".
