I hadn't seen the "explosive" pile driving before, only the "hammer" type. I wonder if it's more powerful, and that's why it's shaking the crap out of us.
I have no idea what's going there, or if they got variances. Be nice if there's some retail at the corner, but I doubt it. I don't imagine the market is as strong for a "retail condo".

When you call up all these City Hall numbers, it's actually amazing to me how many people couldn't care less. Out of 7 people i talked to, only one seemed to actually want to try and help me get somewhere. She was shocked that someone had transferred my call to her.
I guess it's one of those situations where no one gives a crap until a random building collapses and then suddenly it's the most important thing.

I've been wondering how much shaking is allowed up here on 7th, they're driving piles at Monmouth today. The foundation here ain't so great to begin with.

Buildings Dept is actually down the street at 30 Montgomery. In my experience, it pays off to walk down there and (nicely) get in someone's face if you have an issue. If your building is historic, you may also want to get Dan Wrieden on this. He's also down at that office.

Yikes! Definitely put in a call to the Resident Response Center to get a ticket started, but I'd also call the office of Ray Meyer, who heads the Construction Code office 201 547 5055 or 5068. Call NOW - before they bring in the pile drivers.

Tried to call buildings dept at City Hall, which is across the street, and got transferred 6 or 7 times, ending up at some voicemail.
Ahh...city hall. so close, yet so far.

I live on Montgomery near City Hall (Grove St). There is construction going on in the former parking lot on grove and columbus. Whatever it is they do every morning is shaking my 3 story building like crazy. This can't be all that safe especially after the amount of water this building took during sandy.
Who to call about; 1) The amount of shaking 2) The safety of the building needs to be assessed.
