I was impressed by the number of Trick-or-Treaters who came by last night. I sat out on the stoop (in costume) distributing treats from about 5:30 to 7pm, at which point we ran out of candy and I had to call it quits. After that the doorbell only rang once--at close to 9pm--to which I had to apologize for having nothing else to offer. They apologized in return for coming by so late, and thankfully didn't feel the need to "Trick" us or our jack-o-lanterns.

On the whole, I thought the kids and adult accompaniment were very gracious and appreciative. There were a few older kids in questionable costumes but they were greatly outnumbered by the little ones.

Worst of the night was probably the group of four adults pushing an infant in a stroller. They said "Trick or Treat!" and when I put a piece of candy in their bucket, the dad encouraged his (likely under 6-months-old) baby to say Thank You. Which, clearly, the baby was not capable of. The mom looked embarrassed by the entire act. Seemed like an overly elaborate ruse just to collect some candy...

This is more of a survey response, but last night it was
1: Iron Man or Wolverine
2: Plastic bag (plastic jackolantern was 2nd place)
3: "Thanks"

I'm a little surprised at how small some of the plastic jackolanterns and bags were. I guess parents get a small one, using the "smaller plate, smaller portion" method. When I was a kid we went out with pillowcases.

1 - clothes they wore to school that day with some face paint.
2 - shoprite bags
3 - "only one piece, you cheap"

at least this is what I witnessed last night on the way home from work.

1 - Witches & dr seuss characters

2 - Shoprite bags & plastic jack-o-lanterns

3 - "thanks" I was disappointed not to get any good, "smell my feet..." lines.

and a new one....
4 - What was the best candy people were giving out?

We gave classic mary janes and smarties to most kids and full size candy bars to the most deserving.
