Umm, I might point out that it's unlikely your heat is on given the mild weather. No steam, no leak.

I checked today and didn't see or feel any wetness on / around the pipe.

I also took a picture, but how do I attach it here? TIA!

If you're renting your landlord should be liable for repairs.

Place a pan under it just in case.

I didn't see any water leaks (or any water on, or around, the pipe) this morning when I discovered the rusting. It was just the "outside paint" peeling off, and the pipe itself shows (lot of) sign of rust.

I'll take a better look tomorrow to check for leaks, and try to post a pic too.

Thanks!

That's likely a sign of a leak, the exterior of those pipes usually don't just rust by themselves in the absence of water.

Do you have a picture? Is it leaking? Pitting, or just surface corrosion?

I just noticed that the pipe on my steam radiator (going from the valve control into the floor) is rusting away. Can it be repaired (such as re-painting) or does it have to be completely replaced? Or can I just leave it there (I assume this is not a good idea)?

Thanks.
