Aiyana Cronk/The Jersey Journal
A Newark man lured to a Monmouth Street home under the guise of purchasing a car part was robbed at gunpoint of his car, $1,000 cash, a fishing pole and an iPhone, police said. The 23-year-old arrived at the house and parked his 2005 silver Acura RSX just outside the building shortly before 8:30 last night to buy a "supercharger" from a man who he knew as "Kevin," reports said. The Newark man followed "Kevin" into the basement of the building when another man ? described as 6-foot-1, wearing a black hooded sweater, black and blue baseball cap and dark blue jeans ? came out of one of the rooms and pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the Newark man, reports said. The two men pushed the victim into another room and the gunman held the gun to the victim's head and said "Give me your s?t, give me all you have," reports said. The assailants fled with the man's car keys and iPhone and took off in the victim's car. The 23-year-old told police he had $1,000 in cash and a fishing pole valued at $150 in the car, reports said. "Kevin" was described as being 5-9, 170 pounds, in his mid-20's, light brown hair, brown eyes and light facial hair, reports said. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call (201) 547-JAIL.
