here's an interesting article on "Brofiling": white privilege radically changes the appearance of Tsarnaev bros

http://www.brofiling.com/post/4902901 ... ly-changes-the-appearance

Check out the caricature of the brothers:

This is how brofiling actually works in real life. The Week Magazine ran with this image as their cover sketch.

Just so it is said, clearly and unambiguously: the Tsarnaev brothers are white guys. They are white. The FBI?s own wanted poster for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev lists his race as ?white?, but you would never know it from the cover image on The Week.

Hold up the cover to someone else, and ask them how many white people they can see on the cover. Chances are they will identify Gabby Giffords on the top left and the image of the Boston policemen (all white men) on the top right, but how about those two guys in the center? Nope, not a chance that anyone would say these caricatures look white.

Why? Because in addition to being white they are also ?Muslim?, which is the current dehumanizing ?Other? that whiteness has constructed as a sanctioned target for violence in US popular culture...

In light of the explosions near the finish line of this afternoon's Boston Marathon, local law enforcement agencies are on heightened alert.

Jersey City Police Chief Thomas Comey issued a statement this afternoon, saying that there will be an increased police presence throughout the city.

"In light of today's events in Boston, we have decided to increase police personnel at all major transportation hubs throughout the city," Comey said. "We will continue to work with our partners in law enforcement to ensure the safety of all residents and commuters. We will continue to monitor the situation."

Hudson County Sheriff's Office spokesman Mike Makarski said that the Sheriff's Office is on heightened alert, but added that they are on heightened alert normally because of the county's proximity to New York City.

Spokesman from the Port Authority and New Jersey Transit were not immediately available for comment.

Jersey City spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill said Mayor Jerramiah Healy has reached out to Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and has offered any help the city needs.

The Associated Press is reporting that cell phone service has been shut down in the Boston area to prevent the remote detonation of any explosives.
