Just think of all the potholes that could be fixed if those sales were taxed.

Jersey City police responding to a domestic dispute early this morning stumbled onto a drug den and seized 19 pounds of marijuana and more than 1,200 prescription pills, authorities said.

The street value of the drugs seized from a Palisade Avenue apartment is more than $36,000, Jersey City Capt. Edgar Martinez said.

Brandon Krytzer, 36, was arrested in the raid just after midnight. Police Officers Ronald Pachucki and Rodman Ante were responding to the third floor of the building on the 300 block of Palisade Avenue, but detected the distinct odor of raw marijuana coming from a second-floor apartment, reports state.
Based on officers' information and a positive indication from a drug-sniffing K-9 unit, police obtained a search warrant and entered Krytzer's apartment, reports said.

During the raid, police seized marijuana, more than 750 mixed Valium pills, 459 Xanex tablets, along with digital scales, vacuum sealed bags, marijuana brownies, and more than $3,000 in suspected drug proceeds, reports state.

"I commend these officers (Pachucki and Ante) for doing an outstanding job," Police Chief Tom Comey said today. "They epitomize what all officers should strive to become."

Krytzer has been charged with two counts of drug distribution, two counts of distribution near public and school property, possession of marijuana over 50 grams, obstructing law and government function and operating a CDS production facility.

Bail information on Krytzer was not immediately available, reports state. He was taken to Hudson County jail and was expected to appear in Central Judicial Processing court today.
