There is a decent piano in Grace Church on Erie. It also doubles as a community center and my daughter has had recitals there.

Check them out, they might allow you to play

Hi,

Thanks for the comments. I'm still not sure if I should get a real piano. I practice a lot in the evening from 8 to midnight every night, and it won't be fair to my neighbors. I also have a limited space.

So I'm wondering this:

Is there any place in Downtown, like church or community center of a sort, which has a piano, and let people play it from time to time while the facility is not being used for its main purpose?

Thanks,

+1 for Art (actually his name is Aart). He just left my place after working all day tuning the piano.

Good luck to the newbie, but if you need your piano tuned, I would heartily recommend Aart. I bow down before his greatness!!!!

I cook with wine, sometimes I even add it to the food.

Hello,
My name is Adam and I am a Hamilton Park resident and piano tuner. My company is Stay Tuned Piano Tuning. After browsing the message board I happened to find this thread and thought it would be a good resource to include my services. I will post my website below which has all of my contact information. If anyone is looking for a very local piano tuner I am always taking on new clients. Thanks.

yes, same we have had a piano for over 7 years, was a roll of the dice to spend that kind of money over a keyboard for a 5 year old, but has worked out, always keep the upright against an interior wall, for both temperature and sound muffling. our immediate neighbors hear it, but no one else.

we have moved with it once already, as all know the problems with ground floor / garden apartments, we excluded them when moving. we used Art in American to move it.

Yes I do (upright Schimmel). I know quite a few people that have - around the Hamilton Park area. Brian Beninghove is a local musician/Sax player that teaches my daughter piano on the weekends, and most of his students have real pianos.

It stands on a wall that is exposed on on the outside, so my neighbors, whom I share a wall, do not get the full treatment. I do have to get it tuned at least once a year.

I play with a digital piano, which is pretty good, but I sometime wish I had a real piano. That got me wondering. When I walk around Downtown, I never hear piano. There must be many people who play the instrument, but I'm guessing that most people have digital pianos for the same reason I have chosen a digital piano (cost the instrument, cost of moving, cost of maintenance, consideration for neighbors, space). Does anyone have a real piano? If so, is it working out for you?
