Any chance of Spoon getting added to Delivery.com or Grubhub?

Got a sandwich over the weekend that really hit the spot.

Spoon is in a very unassuming location so hoping a little word of mouth will send more people over there.

Good luck guys

Spoon's menu update is a hit. The pork bowl (dirty rice with pulled pork) is fabulous. Massaman Curry and Spoon Dog both good choices. The house-smoked meats all good, and the fresh-made juices are really nice. Still haven't tried the pizza, though.

Calling ahead avoids the wait.

I finally made it over to this spot, and I am not sure what they were thinking when they decided to put it there. It is not near anything except for Peter Brennan's bar which is a dive. I guess their customer base are locals and folks with a car in country village.
Resized Image

The food was good a little misleading but tasty and reasonable. However, the wait was far too long. I waited for about an hour for a sandwich to be made, mind you I was the only customer there.

They had seats and a little sofa to wait, I should have carried my ipad with me if I would have known it would taken so long.

I probably will go back, just not sure when since I live on the opposite side of GV. There is no transportation in this area so for me I would either have to walk a half hour or take my bike 10 min. I gave it a few stars over on yelp because its a nice spot in GV, the decor is wonderful, and the owners were from NYC and were pleasant. I would have given it more if they seemed better prepared when I arrived.

I can't see folks from other areas going there even tho its a nice spot, just too out of the way. It would have been nice to be near a lightrail station. I wish you guys big luck! Happy 2013!

Hello everyone,

We are working with a church to help collect items for people still affected by Hurricane Sandy. If you have anything you can donate, please drop it off to us at Spoon. We are looking mostly for outerwear items such as coats, scarves, gloves, shoes, boots or anything that will help keep them warm during this winter. Adult and children clothing are needed. Anything helps!

If you have any questions or need more information on how to help, please contact us and we can put you in touch with the appropriate people. Thank you!

Happy Holidays and God Bless!

The secret may be getting out. SPOON is a great addition to the neighborhood and the city. I visited today and there was a steady procession of customers.

Very inviting small space, with a coffeehouse-style area in front for dining-in. Andy and Jung are the proprietors, who were busy yet friendly enough to talk. Although Andy was mostly in the back smoking some chickens.

I had a good sampling, and everything I tried was good. The juice (pomegranate strawberry) was not too sweet, bright and refreshing. The simple salad was fresh, the lime citrus dressing complemented but did not hide the flavor of the greens and grape tomatoes.

I tried the smoked chicken sandwich, served on very substantial slices of homemade bread with caramelized onion and muenster cheese, then grilled on a panini press. The smoke on the chicken came through the other ingredients, and it all hung together well.

Delicious, welcoming, and I will be returning soon.

Two issues to note:

It's not fast food. Everything but the juice was hand-made to order, so it takes assembly and cooking time. But the few minutes wait was worth it. (The smoked meat and the grilling paninis mean the place smells great.)

Sterling Avenue is off the beaten track, only 5 blocks long, and a little bit south of NJCU. It's close to Kennedy Blvd, also Home Depot and the 440 Pathmark, but you have to find your way back onto the back streets. If you're nearby, though, you should give 'em a try. http://goo.gl/maps/wXtcB
