Cops charge Jersey City man with posing as a cop to extort 22-year-old 'underage' drinker out of $400
Published: Monday, September 10, 2012, 8:40 AM By Charles Hack/The Jersey Journal A 27-year-old Jersey City man has been charged with posing as a cop and kidnapping a 22-year-old woman whom he coerced Saturday night into paying him $400 to get out of being ?arrested? for underage drinking, police officials said. Michaelangelo Costello, of Newark Avenue, has been charged with kidnapping, theft by extortion and impersonating a police officer, Lt. Edgar Martinez said yesterday. The bizarre story began around 11:45 p.m. Saturday, when police responded to a bar on Coles Street in Downtown on a report that a man had abducted a woman in his 4-door Pontiac Bonneville after ordering patrons to show him their IDs, police said Full JJ piece.. http://www.nj.com/jjournal-news/index ... e_jersey_city_man_wi.html
