This is a great bookstore run by two wonderful locals. I would encourage everyone who loves books to visit and support this store. These are the types of stores that are nice to have in our community. I've picked up a bunch of used books here for great prices - much less than I would pay on my kindle. They also serve coffee.

Did Ikea run out of bookshelves or something? Looks like a nice place, but the fact that they have so much space and limited shelving makes it looks like a cafe/performance space as mentioned previously. Can't win the battle if you don't have the stock.

Damn... a new independent bookstore? Well, if they can make it in a world of a certain online bookseller (we all know who, I need not give any free advertising) and the last remaining mega-chain (which I won't name either), all the power to them. I mean, I thought the only independent bookstores that had any chance at survival were ones like the Strand. But I've been wrong before. I'll have to check the place out too - do they have some kind of cafe or do they plan on having one? In light of today's world, diversification is not a bad idea.

When I think of book stores, I think of places like The Last Word in Philadelphia where books are piled on top of books piled on top of books piled on top of tables made out of books. Books spilling out on to the floor, violating every fire code in the ... book!

This place had none of it. Is this "the start with more to come" or is this it? By the vibe in the store and on the website, this place is more about hanging out and drinking coffee with books on shelves in the background.

Am I missing something? Am I asking too much?
I have to agree. I stopped in for a second and there are hardly any books at all. Unless you're willing to just pick up any random book you find, it's not going to be a very good place to go book shopping. A book shop should look like the Strand, or Montclair Books:

I would guess at around 10-15%, by no means a children's book store, but just child friendly. Check it out for yourself.

Just wondering if many people have visited the new bookstore on Newark Ave. downtown. I think it's fantastic that we finally have a bookstore again, glad it's not a generic chain store, and really hopeful that it does well and thrives. I'll be checking it out myself as soon as possible.
