I thought that he had died in that explosion, which is why this news surprised me.

Back in 1984 he was severely burned when his stove blew up. It was right after he retired. Almost killed him.

Nah, he won three gold Olympic medals. A good boxer, and apparently a good man.

Didn't he get blown up in a gas explosion at his home once? I remember he was in the 1976 Olympics.

Boxing fans - Teofilo Stevenson died at 60 of a heart attack. He was a hell of a boxer. His fight against Ali never happened, but would have been a doozy. My bet is that Ali would have knocked him out. Anyway, RIP.
