Authorities in Downtown Jersey City blow up 'suspicious package' that turns out to be stuffed toy

The Jersey Journal
May 17, 2012, 12:23 PM

Jersey City authorities have blown up the suspicious package found in Downtown Jersey City this morning, though it turned out to be a stuffed toy, according to sources on the scene.

The package was found earlier today stuffed between a building and an ATM machine near the corner of Wayne and Grove streets. Motorists and pedestrians were barred from the area as investigators tried to determine what was in the package.

Jersey Journal reporter Celeste Little, who was on the scene, said that a few minutes ago, a police official yelled, ?Fire in the hole!? before blowing up the object.

A police officer told Little that the package was a ?stuffed animal in a box.?

The Department of Homeland Security released this photo of the alleged suspect:

(Just another reminder that the terrorists have already won.)

Anyone know what's going on? They have Grove street by Columbus Drive completely blocked off with fire trucks and police cars.
