I rent a parking space and agree that the going rate for downtown is closer to $150/month for an outdoor space (based on my own experience looking - the only space I saw listed for less was a tandem space). At least, that's the price that homeowners with an extra space charge - I don't know about the larger lots. You might be able to negotiate a better price if you're willing to pay for 6 months or a year upfront, though.

I also found that, as with some apartments, many people just post a sign near the spot, so keep your eyes peeled when you're walking around. And check Craigslist as well as the classifieds here - there are 2 listings up on Craigslist now, but they're a few days old.

I've seen outdoor parking off Steuben St for $150/month, and I was simply curious if something cheaper exists. Anyone have info on something closer to Jersey Ave? Or maybe someone has a parking space available that they're not using ? who knows?

You live in downtown JC not in Bergen Lafeyette or Greenville or even Journal Square. What makes you think you will ever got shot?

In any case, the lowest parking I have seen in the area is about $150 a month for outside parking. You're looking at a premium of at least $175/month for garage parking.

Hi all,

I've been living in downtown JC for 5 years now and have finally come around to buying a car ??shocking to some, I know. That being said, I'd like to avoid alternate side parking like the plague and consequently I am looking for a parking spot/lot for my as-of-yet-be-purchased vehicle ??for ~$100/month, if that even exists.

I reside near Jersey Ave and Wayne (no, I've never been shot at...yes, I like where I live) and thought maybe someone might have a space available nearby or someone could point me to a serviceable parking lot within a reasonable walking distance.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
