Damn, when I was 14, I'd be lucky just to have the $7.

the comma placement in the title made it read like 'police men' robbed the 14 year old.

That's the way I read it. Good thing it wasn't policemen, then the department would read like the script from Serpico.

A 14-year-old boy was robbed after refusing to let three men join in a pick-up basketball game in the Jersey City Heights Monday afternoon, police reports said.
The boy told police he was playing basketball with six friends on a court on Palisade Avenue around 5 p.m. when three males who appeared to be in their late teens asked to join the game, reports said.
After the friends said no, the boy said, the three intruders walked over to his gym bag and removed an iPhone, $7 in cash, and gloves, reports said.
The victim said when he asked what they were doing, the men replied ?just playing basketball? and fled.
