Are you sure you weren't smelling the smoldering mulch from the recycling place at exit 14B? That is what I smelled early this morning. I have complained about it in the past and been told that the smell is more pungent and wafting when the outdoor temperatures are uncharacteristically warm.

Looked like the whole city was burning from the Pulaski Skyway Southbound this morning.

I definitely smelled it, although to me it smelled more like burning metal. I even smelled it when I got off at WTC Path.

I noticed a bad burning smell when I went outside this morning... seems like we're directly down wind of the 7 alarm fire in Elizabeth.
I took this from my helicopter on the way to work this morning.
