Actually they both could have been from Nyc seeing that the fight took place on the PATH. Or from anywhere for that matter.

If they are both homeless why are they said to be from jersey City rather than Hoboken?
Is it because St Lucy's Homeless Shelter (by the Holland Tunnel) falls on Jersey City's side?

Jersey City man in critical condition after fight in Hoboken PATH station
Monday, November 28, 2011, 3:00 AM By Charles Hack/The Jersey Journal HOBOKEN A fight between two homeless men at the Hoboken PATH station early yesterday left a 47-year-old man on a respirator and in critical condition, according to a Port Authority police spokesman. As a result of the 2 a.m. incident, Hakeem Gordon, 25, of Jersey City, has been charged with aggravated assault, police said. During the fight between the two Jersey City men, Gordon pushed the victim ?from the top railing? of the station near the turnstiles ?to the platform below,? P.A. police spokesman Al Della Fave said. The victim suffered severe head trauma and was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center, Della Fave said. He was in critical condition at the hospital?s intensive care unit last night, a hospital spokesman said After the incident, Port Authority police detectives Larry Mays and Juan Garcia checked surveillance video and searched the PATH station for Gordon, who was wearing ?a very distinct blue jacket,? Della Fave said. Gordon was spotted and arrested at 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Second Street, he said. Gordon acknowledged to police he knew the victim and said they did not have a ?very good relationship,? police said. Gordon is being held at the Hudson County jail in Kearny in lieu of $75,000 bail with no 10 percent cash option, Della Fave said. The Star-Ledger contributed to this story.
