She is lucky.
Questions about why someone who lives on Waldo Avenue would have an $80K car aside, she may even get the car back if it has the BMW version of OnStar in it. If she left the car running and had the key in her pocket when the thieves drove off, the thieves would be in for a surprise - when they try to start the car again they won't be able to.

(she was VERY lucky it could have been worse? she should have NEVER gotten out of her car especially at that time of night and in that unpopulated area!! It was the old ?bump and rob?)
Jersey City woman in BMW carjacked by armed man in Mercedes Benz, cops say Published: Wednesday, October 19, 2011, 12:59 PM By Michaelangelo Conte/The Jersey Journal A Jersey City woman's 2008 BMW was carjacked at gun-point by a man in a Mercedes Benz after her car was rear-ended by the Mercedes early this morning. The 29-year-old Waldo Avenue woman was on the Route 1 & 9 North ramp heading toward Route 7 at 12:08 a.m. when her BMW M3 was struck by a silver Mercedes Benz, reports said. She got out of her car to see what happened and a man who was a passenger in the Mercedes, wearing a ski mask and pointing a gun at her head, approached her, reports said. The man demanded the victim's keys and after she told him the car did not require keys, he jumped in and drove away northbound on 1&9, reports said.
