Good luck with the JC Building Dept. but I doubt if they can help you. You may have some record in the Tax Dept. -- specifically in the historic survey from the 1930's -- because the ones I've seen have a rough layout of the building in the lot. Unfortunately, it will likely not have sufficient data for what you need. And Zoning may require an actual survey by a Licensed Surveyor. Lafayette's idea re: property documents is a good one since it sounds like you already had one but only lost the copy.

The building department is bad enough trying to do their own work. they won't have this.
If you don't have your original deed and property documents ( a survey is always part of that) you need to go to hudson county Record offices and pay for a copy ....hope this helps.
if you need to do a survey than you need to hire a surveyor to mark out and verifying your building property line and locate whatever you need.

You can access that information most likely from the building department.
However if there is not a hardcopy for you there then you will need to commision a surveyor as a survey will be required for the DOB submittal.

If you contact a LOCAL surveyor they may have access to the database and would then just charge you for an on site field verification and for any tweaks that need to be made.

You have to pay a Survey company to come and do a survey for you.

Does anyone know if a private citizen can get a copy of their property survey (i.e., boundaries, lot size, etc)? If so, would the JC building department have it? I unfortunately misplaced my copy and I'd like to potentially put an extension and need this information.
