View Larger Map Elizabeth man babysitting for girlfriend in Jersey City is allegedly assaulted by the woman and two of her friends Tuesday, August 16, 2011, 5:56 AM By Terrence T. McDonald/The Jersey Journal An Elizabeth man was assaulted, robbed and kidnapped at a residence near Hutton Street and Central Avenue in the Jersey City Heights Saturday night. Three Jersey City residents are in jail after allegedly assaulting, stripping, robbing and then kidnapping a 24-year-old Elizabeth man who was babysitting the 4-year-old son of one of the suspects, according to police. The three suspects, who police say accused the victim of possessing a DVD player and DVDs that belonged to one of them, were nabbed after they let the victim enter his Elizabeth apartment alone, at which time he promptly called 911, ending his ordeal, according to reports. The suspects John carlos Drouet, 22, and Joseph L. Caruso, 24, and the victim?s girlfriend, Nancy Carrion, 32 are now being held on aggravated assault, robbery and kidnapping charges. The victim was babysitting Carrion?s 4-year-old son at her Hutton Street apartment in Jersey City on Saturday night at about 9 p.m. when Carrion entered with the two other suspects, Drouet and Caruso, according to police. A fight among the four ensued, and Drouet ?sucker punched? the victim, causing him to collapse to the floor, where he was punched and kicked by all three suspects, police said. Carrion, yelling obscenities at the victim, approached him with a hammer in her hand, but Caruso stopped her, according to reports. The victim, suffering from a black eye and facial lacerations, was ordered to strip to his boxer shirts, and the suspects robbed him of $29 in cash, a cellphone, a pack of Newport cigarettes, a cigarette lighter and a blue pocket knife, according to police. The suspects then allowed the victim to get dressed and ?coerced? him into Caruso?s pick-up truck, and the three males headed to the victim?s Elizabeth apartment, police said. Meanwhile, Carrion filed a domestic violence report against the victim that police believe was an attempt to deflect suspicion from her, according to authorities. Once in Elizabeth, the victim was ordered to go into his apartment and retrieve Carrion?s DVD player and DVDs, while the two male suspects remained outside, according to police. The suspects threatened to tie up the victim?s sister and wheelchair-bound mother if he did not comply, reports said. But instead of retrieving the items, the victim called 911 and Elizabeth police responded to arrest Caruso and Drouet. The three suspects were all charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping and robbery, with Caruso and Drouet charged additionally with drug possession, police said.
