H&M to open at Newport mall

Shoppers in Hudson County will soon have a new place to spend their clothing dollars.

Popular clothing retailer H&M will open its doors just in time for the Christmas holiday season, at Simon's Newport Centre Mall, 30 Mall Drive West in Jersey City, located in the JCPenney's wing, occupying two levels, mall officials said.

The 20,000-square-foot store will cater to men, women, teenagers and children, and also carry footwear, accessories and its own brand of cosmetics.

Operating in 38 countries, H&M says it offers reliable, fashion-forward and affordable merchandise to consumers. A spokesman for Simon said the company did not have a specific date it expects the store to open.

"The addition of H&M to our mall will further enhance the shopper experience at Newport Centre," said Jill Daniel, director of marketing and business development for the mall. "The opening of the new store will nicely complement the entire center."
