?I didn?t get any complaints,? Guaghan asserted adding, ?Take a day off.?

I don't think he realizes he has an email account.

Setting an annual meeting schedule is a routine matter for most city councils, but in Jersey City the resolution on tonight?s agenda has sparked debate.

Ward E Councilman Steven Fulop asked that the council move another of its July or August 2011 meetings from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to better accommodate the public.

?Every excuse we?ve used for the last five years are not applicable now,? Fulop said at yesterday?s caucus.

The City Council traditionally held July and August meetings at 10 a.m. because the council chamber was not air conditioned. But two years ago the room underwent $1.9 million in renovations, including a new heating and air conditioning system and a new sound system.

Fulop said he received a number of complaints from residents who work saying they could not attend summer meetings because of the morning schedule.

The Aug. 10 meeting is the only summer meeting set for 6 p.m. The July 18, Aug. 8 and Aug. 29 caucus meetings and July 20 and Aug. 31 action meetings are all scheduled for 10 a.m. in the proposed resolution.

Aside from July and August meetings, cacus meetings are held at 5:30 p.m. and action meetings at 6 p.m.

Ward D Councilman Bill Gaughan, the longest serving council member, said he hasn?t received complaints, to which Fulop argued back that Gaughan and other council members were copied on e-mails he received.

?I didn?t get any complaints,? Guaghan asserted adding, ?Take a day off.?

Guaghan, along with Council President Peter Brennan, Councilman Radames ?Ray? Velazquez and Councilwomen Viola Richardson and Willie Flood works for the county.

Fulop works in the financial industry in Manhattan.
