View Larger Map Woman mugged for $13 on Jersey City street; cops make quick arrest after she describes suspect, then IDs him Saturday, October 23, 2010 By MICHAELANGELO CONTE JOURNAL STAFF WRITER A Jersey City man was arrested on robbery charges minutes after he allegedly put a woman in a headlock and stole $13 from her pocket before knocking her down onto the sidewalk Thursday evening, officials said yesterday. Jason Edwards, 23, of Gardner Avenue, was taken into custody at about 7:20 p.m. at Belmont and Monticello avenues and charged with robbing the 32-year-old woman at Crescent and Belmont avenues, reports said. The Van Horne Avenue victim walked into the West District Police station after being robbed and described her attacker. Police broadcast the description and Edwards was spotted on Belmont. An ambulance responded to treat an eye injury the victim sustained during the robbery, reports said.
